Summary: Drabble. The Captain has his own scars to bear, buried deep within.

A/N: Inspired, of course, by the Captain's Blog. ("Seeing Gwen experience it for the first time took me right back to when I first heard that terrible scream. After Gwen had gone home, I just held on to Ianto for a couple of hours, as tightly as I could." - CJH) Hooray, canon fluff!

“It reminded me,” Jack says thickly. “Seeing her… It… The first time I went there.” He looks up at me, his eyes so very blue, so very tired. “The first time I heard that terrible scream.”
I walk over to him, still quiet. I could show him kindness, or pity. I could give him platitudes, tell him it will be okay. But I know better.
He lightly tugs at my tie, and then kisses me – not a snog, a proper kiss. I can tell he wants to cry.
I try not to let on that I want to cry, too.
