Chapter one of my story A Most Succulent Apple, entitled "The Raven and the Ravenous," is posted on FFN. Go see, and when you're done reading, feel free to look back here and see what I have to say behind the link below!
In my opinion, the most interesting part of this chapter is how it shows Eriol's vampiric personality, and how he is both the same and different from his usual self. We see his usual manipulation and entertainment at playing with lives, but there seems to be - if possible! - an even darker side to him than usual. You may or may not have noticed the depressing undertones in his thoughts, but believe me, they're present. I think as the story goes on, you'll see that Eriol, so calm and controlled, is actually a very messed up person.
Don't believe me? Too bad. But you better believe it when I say that fitting into his head to write him gives me a headache. It's only because I write that I can encompass his character at all. ;) It gives me that extra boost of insanity to understand his.
Also, he's hiding a huge secret, which apparently has something to do with his firm control over his mind under the temptation of blood. Whatever could that mean? I have no intention of telling you. :) For now. That will change, eventually. For now, feel free to ponder and wonder at what on earth I could be cooking up.
And then there's the (not so big?) secret. Eriol is in love with her! Oh, how glorious! This means my story will be shorter, right? With no falling in love problems go through? Don't be silly. Remember that Tomoyo's feelings are presently an unknown. Even more importantly, I am the author, which means I will have much more for them to go through than the standard run-of-the-mill trials and obstacles!
Now, here's an answer to a question posed to me earlier. Can a vampire turn his or her Possessed? The answer is technically, yes, if they can keep themselves from killing their Possessed in the process. Easier said than done, though. In fact, it has happened only twice in the past century, and usually it only occurs once in any given century that a vampire succeeds in turning their Possessed. In other words - not even a vampire with Eriol's level of control is likely to succeed. The odds are so very stacked against it.
Then again, a turned Possessed also rarely occurs because some vampires don't WANT to turn them. That affects these statistics, as well.
Why might they want to kill their Possessed instead of save them? As a vampire, their Possessed would lose that magical aspect in their blood, probably making them less desirable. Usually the attempt to turn a Possessed happens only when love is involved, and rarely does that ever happen. Otherwise, vampires prefer to simply take advantage of their Possessed while they can still keep themselves from killing the human.
Another question to be answered. Of course vampires have relationships together. But if a Possessed comes along, what happens to that relationship? For the time being, it is customary that the relationship is set aside until the vampire kills the Possessed. Naturally this sparks jealousy, but the exception is mutual, and it only occurs once in any vampire's immortal life. Most find that the good outweighs the bad in allowing their partner to have fun with their Possessed, for a time.
Enough Q&A. I'll spill more beans later for you all, but for the moment I think I'll retire and write/read some fluff. See you! - Tomoyo

So. Chapter 2? ^_^
